DEC encourages companies with an interest in selling to the government, to utilize the services and assistance of the SBA and/or the Vermont Procurement Technical Assistance Center (PTAC) at the VT Agency of Commerce and Community Development. VT PTAC provides the in-depth understanding of complex documentation and product specifications that most businesses lack. By proactively searching for appropriate opportunities for each business’s needs, VT PTAC makes itself an indispensable partner in government procurement.
At VT PTAC, they match businesses with relevant contact opportunities, target a list of buyers and deliver access to critical research and development products. VT PTAC has the technical knowledge to support businesses through registrations and certifications. Their understanding of the solicitation process enables DBEs to bid on government contracts effectively and efficiently.
Through every phase of the government contracting experience, VT PTAC is an aid and an asset. Their mission is to increase the percentage of federal contracts awarded to Vermont businesses, particularly contracts awarded to small businesses. Federal spending flows to Vermont businesses through both direct contract recipients and through their subcontractors. VT DEC utilizes the Vermont Bid System, which is searchable by the public and allows all DBE entities to search for, and bid on, contracting and subcontracting opportunities for all DEC funded projects by using the keyword “DBE” in their search.
