An update on DEC-led efforts to improve water quality at Lake Carmi, including a summary of the impact of three years of aeration, efforts to reduce external loading of phosphorus from watershed sources, and consideration of phosphorus inactivation treatments to reduce internal loading in the future.
Oliver Pierson is the Lakes and Ponds Program Manager for the Vermont DEC. He has 20+ years' experience in water and watershed management work in the US and Africa, holds scientific degrees from Cornell University and Yale University, and has published research on use of payments to protect ecosystem services, best practices for forest sector reform, and use of spatial analysis to assess land use change.
