DRAFT - PFAS in the Environment

PFAS are widely used, long-lasting chemicals, components of which break down very slowly over time. Because of their widespread use and their persistence in the environment, the Department of Environmental Conservation is committed to providing meaningful, understandable, and actionable information on per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances – known as PFAS – to Vermonters.

Vermont's PFAS Roadmap outlines the continued efforts to address PFAS sources and contamination and to protect the well-being of Vermont residents. As part of the department's responsibilities officials regulate areas of drinking water and surface water; and also provide direct support to impacted communities.
