Sustainable Design

Agency Facilities strives to incorporate sustainable design into our projects to better conserve environmental and economic resources, and serve as a role model for land and building owners across the state. We do our utmost to ensure our work is minimally invasive and promotes the connection of people to the natural world. Our specification of responsibly sourced materials, utilization of renewable energy, and creation of infrastructure that facilitates interaction with the Green Mountains are just a few examples of how Agency Facilities consciously transforms local behavior through innovative design.

Some examples of this effort can be seen at the John Guilmette Access Area in South Hero, which includes a pervious grass parking area, grass-lined drainage swales, rock drains, and solar lights. Many of the sustainable features associated with this project work to minimize runoff and protect the water quality of Lake Champlain.
