The Environmental Assistance Office helps Vermont businesses and other entities improve environmental performance and minimize negative environmental and public health impacts through direct technical assistance, strategic partnerships, cultivation of knowledge- and resource-sharing networks, and recognition of environmental leadership. Through these efforts, we aim to build a culture of environmental responsibility and excellence.
The cohort model focuses on providing in-depth technical assistance, training, and limited funding assistance to a group of 5-10 businesses in a specific sector who voluntarily, but formally, commit to specific, measurable goals in energy, water, waste, and wastewater. Over the course of a year-long tracking period, participants meet regularly for workshops, information-sharing, and networking. Participants receive compliance assistance should it be required, and, they are expected to work towards meeting requirements for membership in the Green Business Program. This work is in partnership with Efficiency Vermont, and funded by EPA. Participation is free and open to any businesses in a particular sector.
