The Environmental Assistance Office helps Vermont businesses and other entities improve environmental performance and minimize negative environmental and public health impacts through direct technical assistance, strategic partnerships, cultivation of knowledge- and resource-sharing networks, and recognition of environmental leadership. Through these efforts, we aim to build a culture of environmental responsibility and excellence.
Jump-start your business' green journey, or take it to the next level, by participating in a Sustainability Cohort. Cohorts provide in-depth technical assistance, training, good PR, and some funding assistance to a group of 5-10 businesses in a specific sector who voluntarily, but formally, commit to specific, measurable goals in energy, water, waste, and wastewater. Over the course of a year-long tracking period, participants meet regularly for workshops, information-sharing, and networking. Participants may also receive compliance assistance, and are expected to work towards meeting requirements for membership in the Green Business Program. The cohorts are a partnership with Efficiency Vermont, and funded by EPA. Participation is free and open to any businesses in a particular sector.
