Save the Date: Ecosystem Restoration Grant RFP and Webinar
The Vermont Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) anticipates releasing a Request for Proposals (RFP) for Ecosystem Restoration Grant funding in early May, with applications due in mid-June. DEC will be hosting a webinar Thursday, May 4th, 10:30 am – 12:00 pm to discuss the upcoming grant round and minor changes to the RFP, which are intended to provide applicants more flexibility and to streamline the grant application, review, and reporting processes. Partners can attend the webinar in person (seating is limited) or online through Skype for Business (directions on how to attend via Skype for Business are posted online). The webinar will also be recorded and available for viewing on the Clean Water Initiative YouTube page.
Changes to the RFP include a more streamlined, simpler application; improved process for sharing performance measures for tracking project progress and associated water quality improvements; and an opportunity for packaging projects into a single application. Similar to last round’s partnership grants, the packaged grants will allow applicants to bundle up to five projects in one application, but this time with no geographic limitation or required partners. Projects must be the same sector (e.g., stormwater) and same step (e.g., final design or implementation).
Also, as in previous grant rounds, Ecosystem Restoration Grant applicants must discuss proposed projects with their basin planner. Basin planners will be entering proposed projects into the Watershed Projects Database, and assigning it a database number. This number must be included in the grant application prior to submission. Applicants are strongly encouraged to give basin planners as much notice as possible.
