Bioengineering - Installation of Encapsulated Soil Lifts

Host: Vermont Lake Wise Program

Location: Cedar Mountain Road, Lake Bomoseen, Castleton, VT

Event Description: This project is designed to stabilize an eroding shoreland along 290 feet of Lake Bomoseen while protecting the integrity of the town road. Michigan GEI Consultant, Brian Majka, will lead the Town Road Crew, VTRANS workers, and others in the use of this ecological, softscape approach to restore the shoreland to protect water quality and the town road. The work will take about a week, but the first day will involve a hands-on, instructional training opportunity for how to build the bio-engineered lift systems. Professionals certified in Natural Shoreland Erosion Control methods are encouraged to attend this field day. For more information, view the Bioengineering Training Day Flyer.
